We have scheduled allergy testing for my almost 5 year old son. As you know our 2 year old son has multiple food allergies. My oldest certainly did not have any of the problems that my youngest had (severe vomitting, breathing issues, etc), although he often complains that his stomach hurts after eating certain foods and he is developing eczema. Sigh… He also has this little red spot on his face that appears when he eats certain foods. Then it quickly disappears when he’s finished. He doesn’t know that its there; it does not hurt or itch. Its just something my husband and I have noticed.
So we have made an appointment (late November) with our new allergist at Children’s Hospital. My oldest certainly is more emotional and seems to carry more anxiety around doctors. I think its because he’s seen his brother go through so much. I am hoping that his nervousness doesn’t trigger hives as it often does and messes up the skin test results. We will also be doing blood work before hand!
Has anybody ever seen or head of the red dot that appears by your eye when you eat certain foods? I googled it and it seems to run with celiac?
Also any tips on how to keep him calm and not get hives from his nervousness before and during the testing?
